Garden City, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Carter was named the ECAC Division II Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year as announced on Wednesday, June 18. Junior attack Rachel Ray joins her as a first-team selection. Carter, a IWLCA Second-Team All-America, was named the ECC Rookie of the Year, as well as a first-team all-region and all-conference pick. She finished with 48 goals and 13 assists for 61 points, including three game winners as well as 43 draw controls and 39 ground balls. Ray, a First-Team All-American in 2008, led the nation in assists per game (3.88). Along the way Ray moved into first place in all-time assists (118) and free position goals (28) at Adelphi and is second in game winning goals with 10. Adelphi (16-1) advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four for the fourth time in five years, this time under the direction of first-year head coach Joe Spallina. The Panthers finished the season ranked No.3 in the final IWLCA poll. The Eastern College Athletic Conference recognizes the achievements of over 800 student-athletes annually with postseason all-stars in 10 sports. In women's lacrosse, the ECAC honors an all-star team in Division II and three regional all-star teams in Division III. Division II All-Stars, First Team
