Ronan Wiseman enters his sixth season as an assistant men's soccer coach at Adelphi University. He returned to Adelphi as an assistant coach after almost a ten-year absence. Wiseman previously coached from 1989-90 while earning his Master's degree from Adelphi's School of Business in Banking/Money Management. During the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Wiseman gained valuable experience as head coach of the Long Island Rough Riders. Wiseman became just the third coach in team history for the Rough Riders, who compete in the United Soccer League's (USL) second-division. Wiseman worked as an assistant soccer coach at CW for one year and then spent the next four years working in the corporate world as a banker. In 1996 he moved to Europe and played professional soccer in England, Sweden and Ireland. He returned to the U.S. in 1998 continues to play professional soccer with the Long Island Rough Riders. He joined the Adelphi coaching staff midway through the 2000 season. Wiseman, originally from Dundalk, Ireland, earned his bachelor's degree in business finance in 1989. While at Adelphi (1985-88), Wiseman was a starting midfielder and finished his career with 27 points on nine goals and nine assists. Named Male Senior Athlete of the Year (1988-89) and was honored with the Ed Fonseca Memorial Award, which is presented to a member of the men's soccer team who "shows leadership and dedication and high academic standards". Wiseman's primary responsibilities will be the evaluation of prospective student-athletes including scouting and recruitment. |
