April 25, 2006 Garden City, N.Y. - Freshmen Bobby Lanigan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Sam Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of April 25, 2006. Lanigan picked up his team-high fourth win of the season, striking out seven in 7 1/3 innings of work against St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday. He allowed no earned runs, seven hits and just one walk in the key NYCAC battle which lifted the Panthers into a tie for second place. For his efforts Lanigan was named NYCAC Pitcher of The Week. Adelphi (15-16, 11-5) returns to action on Tuesday, April 25 when they travel to Sparkill, New York to take on St. Thomas Aquinas. Johnston hit .917 for the week, going an incredible 11-for-12 wtih two walks in two NYCAC doubleheaders, including a 6-for-6 performance with three runs scored and three RBI vs. Concordia College. For the week, she scored seven runs and drove in four others. For her efforts Johnston was named NYCAC Player of The Week, she was also named Co-Rookie of the Week on April 9. Adelphi (25-11, 12-2) returns to action on Wednesday, April 26, hosting #19-ranked C.W. Post (31-10, 12-0) in a conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. |
