April 13, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Freshmen Stephen Mortimer (Adelaide, Australia) and Kristina LoCastro (Garden City, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of April 13, 2004. Mortimer had three goals and four ground balls over the last week. Against Molloy, Mortimer had one goal and one ground ball. In an overtime loss to NYIT he scored two goals in the fourth quarter and grabbed three ground balls. For his efforts Mortimer was named NYCAC Rookie of the Week for the second time in as many weeks. Adelphi returns to action Wednesday April 14th when they host conference rival Southampton. The Panthers are currently ranked fifth in the latest USILA Division II poll. LoCastro made eight starts in eight games, hitting .462 for the Panthers in a 3-5 week, including 2-1 in the NYCAC. She had 12 hits, including four doubles, in 26 at bats, while scoring three runs and knocking in six runners. LoCastro is leading the Panthers in hitting with a .305 batting average. For her efforts she was named the NYCAC's Rookie of the Week. Adelphi returns to action Wednesday, April 14th when they play host to visiting Molloy College at 3:30 pm. |
