Garden City, N.Y. - Freshman Charlie Castillo (Uniondale, N.Y.) and sophomore Jerri Lester (El Paso, TX) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of January 18, 2005.

Castillo helped the men's swim team to a split with York College and the United States Merchant Marine Academy last week with a first place overall finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. Castillo's winning time of 1:00.91 was nearly four seconds ahead of the second finisher and was fast enough to get Castillo the "A" qualifier for the ECAC Championships.

Lester took home to first place finishes, helping the Panthers to a 52-43 victory over the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Lester won the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:18.63 and took home first in the 100 yard backstroke in a clocking of 1:01.86.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday January 22nd when they play host to visiting New Jersey Tech at 1:00 pm.
