Jamaal Wagner and Jamie Douglas Named Adelphi Athletes of the Week

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Jamie Douglas (Hopatcong, N.J.) and sophomore Jamaal Wagner (Jamaica, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's student-athlete's of the week for the week of January 12, 2004.

Douglas averaged 13.4 points and 7.7 rebounds a game as Adelphi went 2-1 on the week. Douglas had her best game in an overtime win against Bridgeport, a team-high 19 points to go along with 8 rebounds. The Panthers are 5-1 in their last six games and currently sit at 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the NYCAC.

Wagner played strong in three games for the Panthers last week. Wagner had 15 points and eight rebounds in a 71-69 loss to Queens and scored a team-high 13 points in a 61-50 loss to Bridgeport. Adelphi finished the week 1-2 and are currently 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the NYCAC.

Both Douglas and Wagner return to action January 14th when the Panthers play host to NYCAC rival Dowling College. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 5:30 pm, the men's contest will start at 7:30 pm.
